My mom got my dad a card for his birthday. It has a pea pod with eyeballs in it instead of peas on the front. Yeaaaah.

In the Enquirer today there's an article on gift ideas, and one of the things suggested was a cookbook (local author, and I'm guessing vanity published as I can't find it on Amazon) that has themed meals/dishes based on the Catholic saints. Mom: I've always enjoyed watching Vin Diesel; he's such an endearingly soft-hearted tough guy. And he's pigeon-toed.

My mom and her cubical mate decided that they needed a mascot. Something soft they could pet when stressed out. So my mom brought in "Mr. Minky", which is my grandmother's old stole, that is three entire (including the heads and itsy footsies) minks sewn together as a sort of scarf-thingy. My mom collects house plants the way some people take in stray cats. She always takes them if "they need a good home". So over the years we've had a series of half dead house plants that were $2 at Krogers, several gigantic ferns, cacti, and the pointsetta that would not die.
